Esther Yance graduated in Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2005. After completion of her initial research onTranslations of Dracula Costume Design, that awarded her a Mention of Honour, she continued specializing in Fashion and Film studies, particularly in Costume Design of Futuristic Films. She did an important part of her PhD research at London College of Fashion in 2010, where she was awarded a European Research Grant.
She started her teaching activity in 2007, at the Instituto Europeo di Design (Semiotics of Fashion); and currently she teaches at Universidad Complutense/CES (Master of Fashion Photography) in Madrid.
Esther is also member of the Research Group of Studies on Semiotics of Culture, Instituto Universitario de Investigación Fundación José Ortega y Gasset, and her research focuses exclusively in Fashion.
Since 2007, Esther Yance is also a professional Costume Designer and Stylist for the publicity industry (TV advertising), where she has worked, among many others, with Hollywood director Paul Anderson, or more recently with Pablo Croce, awarded Best New Documentary Director at the Tribeca Film Festival 2011.
