Jon Clair at CCW Digital MakerSpace day
What is you session about:
Demonstration-- work in progress: I will be continuing my research into the haptic and tactile relationship betwen the body and the screen, by continuing a number of ongoing projects. These include "bodyscanning" where real-time scans are made of live-feeds and video work to produce static images, body mapping and tracking using computer vision, and testing the body-technology barrier with devices which are intentionally invasive
When: Weds 13th May 11 to 4 drop in anytime throughout the day
At the core of my practice is the notion of digital intimacy: how the digital sphere—from touchscreens to the depths of the internet—creates or extends intimacy. Unpacking the relationship and connection between the digital and the physical, where the virtual meets the real, and the body meets the screen, I ask what is the digital body, where is it located and of what is it made? Through a lens-based practice spanning new media installation to alternative photographic processes, I incorporate elements of identity and self, spectatorship and exposure, ownership and privacy.
What you'd like to gain from the day:
I would like to engage a critical audience, seeking viewer responses to further the development of my work.
