Session title: Exploring the Open Workshop Network
The Open Workshop Network (OWN) is an ongoing research project into the larger making community of London. Research is being carried out over the course of three years and done in collaboration with the 41+ Makerspaces, Hackspaces, Fab Labs and open workshops that comprise the Network. An initial outcome of the research is a digital platform that maps the open workshops in London. From printmaking to welding, 3D scanning to plaster casting, the OWN digital platform provides a place for people to learn about and connect with the many London-based organisations that are dedicating themselves to providing publicly accessible means for making. Drop in and explore the Network to discover what the London Maker Community has to offer.
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m (Presentation at 12:30)
What you'd like to gain from the day: To speak with CCW students to see what they are getting up to. What are they making, hacking and fabing and what open workshops might they want to join?
Please come and join us for a digital making community building event (open to the public) at Chelsea College of the arts on May 13th.
Meet specialist makers, learn about digital making & MakerSpaces at CCW MakerSpace day: 'Chelsea Jam' aims to bring together staff, students and MakerSpaces from across London & UK to share perspectives on digital making within the arts with an aim of establishing a new 'arts digital making community'.
